As I mentioned earlier, a pivotal moment from English this year was the Odyssey unit. Now, I know that sounds a little broad, but let me explain. Last year, I was told that I would be reading The Odyssey in 10th grade. I have been obsessed with Greek Mythology since the beginning of Covid, and maybe a little before that as well. Percy Jackson was the center of my Covid experience and those characters hold a massive place in my heart. I have developed a deep adoration for Greek Mythology, so being able to read one of the most well-known books of Greek mythology was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was given the opportunity to express, and show off, my passion and knowledge of these intricate stories. I felt like I had come alive in that class. I helped other students when they were lost or confused, which made me feel incredible. I felt like my peers could rely on my knowledge to help them get through a challenging and complicated unit.
