History has been nothing short of a journey. I have gained so much knowledge about the rich history of the world. I saw wars from multiple perspectives, I learned about injustices minorities faced, I heard stories that will soon one day be lost to time. It’s one thing to read a textbook and move on with your life, but it is quite another to sit and pour over articles for hours and truly absorb the past. I opened myself up to new ideas that at one point or another, I would’ve refused to listen to. I have looked beyond the one-sided stories and found a whole new world of pain, suffering, and fury. I learned more than the what’s, who’s, and how’s of history. I have learned the why’s behind wars and treaties. I have seen betrayals take place, lies being told. That is the history all students should be taught.
